Meet your crew.
Capt. Teddy Hoogs
Born and raised on the waters of Kona, Hawaii, Capt. Teddy Hoogs is a second-generation sportfishing captain with a lifelong dedication to the pursuit of big game. Learning the craft from his legendary father, Capt. Peter Hoogs, Teddy has spent over three decades mastering the famously calm prolific waters of the Kona Coast. Today, he is widely respected as one of the premier billfish captains in the industry.
Global Experience While his roots are firmly planted in Hawaii, Teddy’s expertise extends far beyond the Pacific. His international resume spans the globe, navigating the prolific waters of West Africa, Ascension Island, and Portugal. During six seasons fishing Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, Teddy wired a staggering 1,389-pound black marlin—the fourth-largest ever recorded in Australian history.
Tournament Proven A fierce competitor on the big game circuit, Teddy's track record speaks volumes. He has led his team to many victories in the Hawaii Marlin Tournament Series. His winning consistency has earned him the highly coveted title of InTheBite's Captain of the Year three times, more than any other Captain in Hawaii.
The Bwana & A World-Class Crew Teddy proudly operates the Bwana, a custom 46-foot Gamefisherman renowned for its speed, agility, and luxurious fishability. Powered by twin Cummins QSM11 diesels, it stands as one of the fastest and most capable charter boats in Honokohau Harbor. Landon Hoogs
Sportfishing is in Landon Hoogs’ blood. As the son of Capt. Teddy Hoogs and the grandson of the legendary Capt. Peter Hoogs, Landon represents the third generation of his family to dedicate himself to the pursuit of giant blue marlin off the Kona Coast. Growing up immersed in Hawaii’s elite big game fishing culture, Landon learned the intricacies of the ocean and the deck of a sportfisher before most people learn to drive.
Today, Landon is an integral part of the Bwana’s tournament-winning crew. He most recently proved his mettle during the 2025 Big Island Marlin Tournament, where he worked the deck alongside veteran crewmates KJ Robinson and Bobby Cherry. Battling tough fishing conditions, the team posted 330 points to secure a first-place overall victory and add the Bwana’s name to the event's perpetual trophy—a particularly special win given his grandfather helped found the tournament in 1987.
Bringing youthful energy, a lifetime of absorbed knowledge, and the signature Hoogs competitive drive to the cockpit, Landon ensures the family legacy continues to thrive on the Bwana.
Camden Arrand
Before stepping onto the deck of the Bwana, Camden Arrand built a formidable reputation battling Hawaii’s most powerful fish from the rocks. An elite shore-based angler, Camden is widely respected across the Big Island for his expertise in targeting giant Ulua (Giant Trevally) and reading the intricacies of local waters.
His dedication to Hawaiian fisheries goes far beyond the catch. Camden is a passionate conservationist and a prominent contributor to the Pacific Islands Fisheries Group (PIFG) tagging program, where he actively tags and releases trophy Ulua and Omilu. In early 2026, his dedication paid off when he took home the award for the "Largest Shore Based Fish" in the PIFG Tag It Tournament with a massive 45-inch Ulua.
Today, Camden brings that same intense work ethic, meticulous rigging skill, and deep respect for the ocean to the offshore world. As a key part of the Bwana crew, he translates his big-game shore experience into a lethal advantage on the deck. Whether he’s perfectly rigging a bait for a giant blue marlin or sharing his vast knowledge of local marine life with guests, Camden’s enthusiasm ensures every angler has a world-class, unforgettable day on the water.
